2012 Stratus Petit Verdot

A complex and polished take on Petit Verdot. An intense violet-black wine that shows a complex and polished nose of stewed dark plums, raspberries, leather, and some integrated woodspice. The structured palate exhibits super-ripe, firm tannins with a dense dark fruit core and a persistent, mineral finish.

"Petit Verdot is late ripening Bordeaux variety that has done well in this warm Niagara vintage. It pours deep purple-ruby, showing its youth. It has a ripe nose of blueberry/blackberry fruit with violets and PV's distinctive meaty character, in-filled with spicy oak and vanillin. It's surprisingly full bodied, firm, creamy and dense with green and somewhat grating tannin. Quite mineral and almost saline on the finish. The length is excellent. A very impressive wine worth cellaring" - David Lawrasson, WineAlign
