2006 Stratus White

The signature Stratus White complex tropical fruit character is present, overlaid with nuances of exotic spicing and orange blossom. The palate echoes the complexity of the bouquet, bringing a touch of creamy nuttiness to this elegant, multi-layered, mature, cool climate exercise in the art of assemblage.

The moderate crop of the 2005 harvest and a mild winter left hardy and healthy vines for the 2006 growing season. No spring frost affected the buds, and we had an average bud-break, followed by healthy flowering and fruit-set. The vineyard benefited from a warm summer with moderate and timely rains. After veraison, we had a cool ripening period, with above average moisture approaching harvest. This pushed back the harvesting of early-ripening varieties and resulted in a normal picking date of late-ripening varieties.
