Welcome
Are you 19 years of age or older?
Made in our vineyard and revealed in our winery.
Located in the historic town of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Stratus Vineyards is a gravity-flow winery, distinguished by its LEED-certified facility, its commitment to sustainability and wines of outstanding quality.
The winery, like our signature assemblage wines, is a composition – a whole greater than the sum of its parts.
On their own, the individual elements are distinctly unique – a diversely planted vineyard with mineral-rich soil; a sustainable facility that unites tradition and science to serve the winemaker’s art; a central retail gallery, tasting room and vineyard terrace. Working together, they create wines and experiences that are truly memorable.
Winemaking steeped in tradition blends with innovation and ingenuity for a full range of small-lot wines including sparkling and Icewine. Whether our signature Stratus Red and Stratus White or distinctive varietals, including Cabernet Franc, Gamay, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, our unwavering commitment to care and quality is expressed in every bottle. Powerful aromatics, a round mouthfeel, complexity, significant length and the capability of aging at least seven to 10 years are hallmarks of Stratus wines.
Objective number one at Stratus is to make super premium wine. Everything else we do, it still starts there.”
J-L Groux, Winemaker
Embracing the Future of Traditions
J-L (Jean-Laurent) Groux, our founding winemaker and Canadian wine industry pioneer, trained in the vineyards of Burgundy and Bordeaux and has long been celebrated for his passion for the art of assemblage.
Winemaker Dean Stoyka continues to further Stratus’ precision viticulture and sustainable practice. J-L’s spirit of innovation has inspired Dean to push the boundaries with his ardent curiosity and passion for experimentation.
Together they embody our philosophy of the Future of Traditions.
To make the best possible wine, we designed our vineyard and selected grapes that give our winemakers a rich array of choices.
