Charles Baker, one of the founding Directors at Stratus fell in love with Riesling as a cellar hand in the 1990's. Since that time, he has made it a mission to explore the nuances of Riesling from the various sites of the Niagara Escarpment; a special and rare base on which to grow wine. Here, the bedrock dates back millions of years and is constantly shifting and evolving. Lake Ontario, close by, enables the vineyards to survive extreme conditions. The nature of our climate guarantees wines of finesse, ageability and enjoyability. All ‘CB’ wines are brought to bottle at Stratus Vineyards by the finest and most devoted group of winemakers in all of Canada.
