2025 Stratus Riesling

The 2025 vintage marked another benchmark here at Stratus. The season kicked off with a slow start in April and May, where temperatures were below expectation and rain was abundant in the month of May. The tone changed throughout the remainder of the summer, as growing degree days were above average and precipitation levels were uncharacteristically low. This created the conditions for optimal sunlight exposure onto the growing grape clusters as we moved into the fall season. These dry conditions also allowed for extremely healthy canopies and fruit that was void of any pressure from rot and mildew. The harvest season showed average temperatures with heavy rains in the month of October. The rains were confined to a few large days of downpour as opposed to smaller, more frequent scattered rain events, which is favorable for keeping quality level high. Expect white wines with booming aromatic profiles that jump right out of the glass.

This crisp, elegant, low-alcohol Riesling showcases Niagara’s cool-climate character, with excellent balance and versatility. It’s light and fresh, offering lifted aromas of lemon zest, lime blossom, and green apple with hints of white peach and delicate floral notes. On the palate, it’s driven by bright, mouthwatering acidity. The finish is clean and refreshing, with lingering citrus and a subtle saline note for added complexity.
